Summer Trevetheck was one of the children of Mike and Rowan Trevetheck, residents of Spearfish Lake. She has one older sister Spring and one younger, Autumn. "By themselves, none were totally uncommon names, although when you stopped and thought about it three sisters with those names implied that their parents had to be just a little weird."BITH1
Summer was described as "decent-looking if not spectacular, medium height, not cheerleader-thin but not heavy. A fairly quiet girl, blonde haired."BITH1 She was also a good student.
Summer and the women of her family practiced a religion they called the Old Way, a Goddess religion similar to Wiccan.BITH12 Much of their religion was secret, including from Mike, but some aspects were known. "Summer’s family didn't celebrate Christmas. He remembered from sometime back in elementary school that Summer had said that it was something their family just didn't do, no tree or presents or anything like that. "BITH1
Summer went on a date with Rusty Frankovich to the movies in Camden. When he groped her, she slapped him and he left. Luckily Jack Erikson and Vixen Hvalchek were on a date at the same cinema and were able to give her a ride back to Spearfish Lake.BITH9 From this Jack included Summer in his subsequent visit with Alan Jahnke and a friendship developed. To tease Laurel Haeussler who delivered pizza to them, Summer and Alan pretended to make out.BITH22
Alan and Summer discovered they had more in common then others saw, although they were each careful in revealing secrets, such as Alan displaying the Athame he got from his Grandmother.BITH30 This added to their mutual attraction. Summer got permission from her family to share moreBITH34 and soon they found more in common.BITH36 They "had a mutual agreement already that they were not going to talk about their shared beliefs with anyone but themselves, at least for a while."BITH37 On another day, they performed a ritual together for "forming a Circle of our own."BITH41
Summer held a poor opinion of the Spearfish Lake High School Principal Bryson Payne, at least in part because he was so vocal in promoting the losing football team "and could hardly bother to note that the girls’ basketball team has won a couple state championships while he’s been principal"BITH45
Summer attended Frenchy LeDroit's arraignment, available to testify his violation of a personal protection order against her.BITH45
Summer and Alan's developing friendship with Jack and Vixen led to the possibility of the four sharing an apartment at college in a year's time. Summer and Alan realised they needed to reveal their witchcraft to Jack and Vixen and were releived at the 'so what' reaction.BOF31
Summer was among the group of students who cornered Frenchy LeDroit after he was released from jail and filmed Alan Jahnke taunting him.OC5
She also contributed to a gift to Frenchy and Monica Laughton after they were burned out of her house.OC26
Summer and Alan were developing a role playing gameBOF4 of witches versus inquisitors,BOF12 or Christians versus Pagans.((Cite|BOF|20}} They held a number of test sessions where they learned what they needed to change to improve it.BOF25 BOF31 They wanted to have it complete by the time they went to college so they could find others who liked role playing games to play with.RFW24 After a surprising encounter with Christians who respected them for having faith, they decided the game was disrespectful all ways round.SLH36
She studied nursing at Southern Michigan University,RFW5 but was not so sure of her career choice after spending a summer working in a nursing home.RFW37
She shared a two-bedroom apartment in the Spearfish Lake House with Alan, Jack Erikson and Vixen Hvalchek. Before leaving Spearfish Lake they were vague whether they would share as couples or boys and girls.RFW17 When they moved in there was no question, they were living as couples.SLH10
Summer and Alan made contact with the Wicca SIG at SMU. On Activities Day they were leaving the room where Kyle Reed was shooting when he turned to shoot at those leaving. One bullet creased Alan's head causing a lot of bleeding but little damage.SLH27 He was taken to hospital for stitches. As they were leaving the hospital they saw Elise Simpkins being wheeled in and stopped to pray for her and the others injured by the gunman. They were seen by Reverend Herbert Fowler of the Hawthorne First Methodist Church who offered them a lift back to campus and commended them or praying.SLH31 He asked if he could use them as examples in his sermon the next day, and then asked if they would join his congregation for the morning service.SLH32 They did attend the morning service at Hawthorne First United Methodist Church, and were amazed at the friendly greeting they received.SLH36
