Summary
Before Randy and Nicole's wedding, the out of town guests have time to visit with their Spearfish Lake friends; Karin, in particular, is able to catch up with people she hasn't seen since she had grown up.
As planned, and with the help of the minister, Randy and Nicole are married at the stroke of midnight. Karin, Scooter, and Crystal conspire to spike the punch at the wedding reception (which was held at the Methodist church fellowship hall) with 4 quarts of 190 proof Everclear grain alcohol (they were found out the next day when the minister found the empty bottles in the trash, complete with Arizona tax stamps).
Nicole presents Randy with an unexpected wedding gift; a pair of Soleil handcuffs (probably one of the two pair mentioned in Andromeda Chained), to help him keep Nicole around. In the past years she had been away more than at home, what with the Girl Scout Camp at Mosquito Valley and her end-to-end Appalachian Trail hike. He puts them on her; she still has them on the next morning.
Karin meets Phil Wine and discovers that he was the young engineer stuck in Japan with Pete Chladek when he got Karin's email saying that she was leaving him. She apologizes, but Phil assured her that it was for the best; he's much, much better off since he quit Hadley-Monroe.
