Summary
The winter evenings dragged for Mel, Rocky and Pepper. Rocky pointed out that Hattie had made the group a family when she'd been part of the household.
Pepper went with Carnie, Frank and Vivian to Daytona. They'd seen Buck finish mid-field. Dewey said he'd be back with the MMSA this year.
Dink told Spud he'd taken a job with the Buik dealership to make his arrangement with the two girls more permanent. Skimp told SPud he'd got a job at Ford's Rawsonville plant which paid better than MMSA.
Frank spent a lot of time working his contacts looking for drivers for the coming season.
Dewey did turn up ready to race. Scotty Lombard and Perk brought a new guy, Red, with them. Dutch Kindleberger was a Livonia racer who joined. Buck brought two brothers named Hap and Junie, and some distant cousin of theirs called Buckshot.
