Rocky Turnupseed was driver of the 14 car with the MMSA. Early in the 1950 season he was roommate with Chick Novesky.

He took second place in the 1950 season championship Rocky didn’t win all that many times, but he sure managed to be around in second and third a lot, which made up for it. ^BR1-13 He was third in 1951.^BR1-19

Over winter he roomed with Chick, Hattie, Pepper and Mel Austin and worked on the cars rebuilding or refurbishing them for next season. In later winters Dink Braithwaite or Dewey Blodgett took Chick and Hattie's places.

He was one of the MMSA crew invited to Hoss Korodan's wedding.^BR1-18

For the 1951 season he was roommate with Mel Austin and fairly often scored a track honey for an evening or night.^BR1-19

When the 53 car was wrecked at Schererville Rocky volunteered with Pepper to drive the wreck back to Herb Kralick Ford] in Livonia, Michigan for rebuild.^BR1-28

At a New Year's party hosted by Dink and his two girls Rocky clicked with Ariel and before the racing season started they'd decided to get married and he lined up a job at the Buick dealership.^BR1-36

He was service manager at the Buick place in 1964.^BR2-16
