Summary
Spud planned to drive the 2 car and Frank agreed that Hattie could run the flag stand. She was already experienced as second flag man on longer tracks.
The racing was close on the ball diamond at Spearfish Lake. Mel was determined to win and Spud squeezed him into a truckk tire which marked the course. Mel was airborne when he crossed the finish line in first and landed hard. The 66 car was undrivable for a week or so and Mel had to take the 27.
During the stop in Livonia to prepare the cars for fair season Bud Gaborski joined to run the fair season again.
Sonny Ochsenlaager left in Wisconsin to return to college for his senior year and Spud took over the 72 car. Spud was still talking about wanting to run in the Indianapolis 500.
Chick and Hattie announced she was pregnant again, causing Frank and Mel to wonder whether they'd be on the road again next year.
At Chattanooga they again had a post-season steak dinner and Frank announced the top three earners: Rocky, Chick and Mel winning.
