Summary
The Spearfish Lake Marlins season opener against the Coldwater Icebergs had recently been an easy win for the Icebergs. Their coach knew the Marlins were mostly sophomores and freshmen so planned to give his second string players plenty of field time so both teams could gain experience.
Some of the dismissed Marlin players were at the Frostee Freeze bad mouthing the team, coaches and administration, trying to avoid hearing about the game.
The Marlins provided many surprises during the game, including Ashley Keilhorn's debut as the first girl ever to play on the Marlin's football team.
Jerome Weilfahrt and George Battle realised they'd lost all chance of reversing recent decisions.
