Janice Archer, born Janice Lufkin, was a a resident of Spearfish Lake. Her father was Jack Lufkin and she had an older brother, Bobby. Her mother Rachel died when she was young.'

She was an EMT and an LPN, and working on her RN degree. She provided first aid to Howie Erikson after his fight with Frenchy LeDroit.^BITH20

Jan had a feeling she should go to Activities Day at SMU.^SLH26 As a result she was close when Kyle Reed started shooting and was able to provide first aid to those shot after Cody stopped Reed. She kept Elise Simpkins alive for the paramedics to be able to stabilise her and get her to hospital.^SLH28

She later told Cody that she hadn't had the nightmares about her father and brother since that shooting, and she could sleep even when Cody was not with her.^SLH39

For her part in caring for Elise Simpkins following the shooting, she received a full scholarship to Notre Dame to complete her Nurse Practitioner training.^SLH38
