Summary
As plans are made, dinner at Randy and Nicole's becomes "something less than a party and something less than a wake, although at times it was hard to tell. It was a lot bigger than anyone had been expecting".
The women prepare food while Danny brushes up on his bartending skills.
The conversation centers on Brent and his life, although the reader also discovers information about the Clark family, such as the background of Rachel's husband Joel.
Ryan tells stories of his father growing up, a repeat of his step-mother's affair and the tragic loss of his mother, Flora, and his wife, Ursula. We hear Matson family stories, too, such as how Garth met Ingrid and the founding of the West Turtle Lake Club.
