Summary

Chief Novato and Corporal Wexler haul Joel away to jail. Rachel, Randy, Nicole and Jared discuss Randy's martial arts skills. His comment about "bridge abutments" also generated come discussion, and ended with Randy saying the rest of his life in a wheelchair isn’t out of the question. Rachel, I said I’d protect you from him, and I mean it. You don’t have to put up with that kind of shit out of him anymore, and you need to learn that.

Randy called the family attorney, Matt Schindenwulfe regarding Joel’s defense case and Rachel's divorce to givve him a head's up on a potential conflict of interest. A second call was made to Carlos at the shop regarding the kicked-in back door.

Later on Chief Harry Novato arrived to write up the the multiple felony paperwork as Joel did enough damage to Ryan's and Linda's house to add felony malicious destruction of property to the list of charges. Harry pointed out that if Rachel didn't agree to a lien on the San Jose house that Joel would stay in jail until trial. Harry left after they completed the report and took pictures of the damaged back door.

Carlos showed up to patch the door and frame until a new one could be obtained and installed. Myleigh, Trey, Danny and Debbie showed up to meet Rachel and Jared. Randy and Ryan were delegated to BBQ some burgers on the outside grill. With the others inside they had a private discussion over the cooking meat regarding Joel, Matt's guesstimate regarding a sentence, Rachel, a job for her, Linda and Ruth, and more.

After the visitors left Nicole brought up the hot tub as being a good spot to relax. Jared had never been in a hot tub before so there were the standard newbie concerns. Randy and Jared had a short conversation about old rules versus new rules, expectations, smart decisions, Spearfish Lake, little league baseball, youth wrestling, sailboats and other topics before Rachel and Nicole arrived to soak with them.

The next morning Ryan was sitting in the back of the courtroom to observe Joel's arraignment. He pleaded "not guilty" the judge set a trial date, and set bail at $250,000 considering the charges, the fact that he was proven dangerous and was considered a flight risk.

When the bail bondsman called to ask if Rachel was willing to sign a lien on the San Jose house so Joel could be bailed out she said No way ... Let him rot, for all I care and if he manages to come up with the bail money somewhere else, I have two words for him: ‘bridge abutment’ .
