Summary
Randy is one of many helping Josh & Tiffany pack up & leave for Alaska. After they leave Mike tells the story of their first trip when they left the sleds behind. Crystal is staying at the Archers looking after the dogs left behind. Nicole is busy trying to train for the Appalachian Trail, as well as teaching at the local school as sick cover.
Randy takes Nicole, Rod & Binky out to a derelict house site. Randy is thinking of buying it, burning the remains of the house and building a new house on the lot. Nicole wants to know why she was asked to go along and not Crystal, and realises that she is being offered the chance to live there too.
In March Randy takes Nicole & Jaqueline (their trail names are Marlin & Jackpine) to Amicola Falls so they can start the trek along the Trail.
In May, when Josh & Tiffany returned from Alaska, Crystal was immediately on the road back to the Grand Canyon.
Nicole is a lot better about keeping people informed about what she is doing, and Matt & Randy meet up with Marlin & Jackpine to do an equipment exchange on Memorial Day, right at the halfway point of the Trail. Randy shares news with them, including that Myleigh has been hired at Marienthal College, a small school in Kansas.
