Grand Canyon on Wikipedia

The Grand Canyon is a massive gorge carved by the Colorado River in Arizona and located in the Grand Canyon National Park, one of the United States' oldest national parks. It is often considered to be one of the major natural wonders of the world.

The Grand Canyon is an attractive tourist destination and many Spearfish Lake Tales visit it. In June 1971, Jackie Archer and Mark Gravengood fly over it (and through!) in Rocinante.

More frequently the reason for a visit by a Spearfish Lake resident is for a raft tour of the Grand Canyon, typically with Al Buck's Canyon Tours. Their trips start at Lee's Ferry. Actually, the first recorded rafting trip by such a resident was Karin (Johansen) Chladek in August 1974. Other visits in the books include non-residents, such as Jennlynn Swift and Myleigh Harris.

Grand Canyon Village on the South Rim is a popular tourist spot to see the canyon from above. Pat and Rachel Rawson own a gift shop at Grand Canyon Village.INTA6 The Grand Canyon National Park headquarters are at Grand Canyon Village.INTA26
