Summary
The table after the Reunion discusses things like the costs of SRS and what percentage insurance sometimes pays, if any. Eve describes the difficulties Cheryl had and saving and pursuing her path with no support from her family.
The flashback is of the day of Cheryl's operation over the holiday break at Syracuse, with Eve spending time with other patients at St. Priscillasville, all students squeezing their operation in over their school break and without friends to support.
Eve discovers a new visitor in the waiting room, crying. It is Cheryl's brother John, distraught at arriving too late to stop Paul from going under the knife. Eve provides some comfort but gets hard to ensure he'll be supportive and not another worry for Cheryl. Eve's patience and understanding are stretched, but the reminders of several suicide attempts (including two that John did not know about) underscores the "live sister or dead brother" choices and Eve refuses to accept any blame when John belatedly remembers who she is.
Finally, John is ready to apologize.
