Bill in 1987 was the general manager of the Bradford distribution center for General Hardware Retailers; having been promoted from distribution manager about four years previously. He and Arlene have three children - Tom, Sue, and the youngest is Denis.
He and Arlene, after getting over the initial shock, were quite supportive, both financially and emotionally, of Denis' decision that he was a girl trapped in a boy's body, and was going to go through the process of sexual reassignment surgery, even going to St Priscillasville Vermont when the surgery was scheduled.
In March 1988, he was transferred to the Denver headquarters as vice president in charge of distribution.
By 1998 he had retired and moved from Denver.
Jason MacRae remembers Bill for promoting him "from the appliance dock to driving a fork truck" the day after rescuing his son Denis Riley from some bullies.HS1
