Summary

Misty met a guy from Albany River who she hit it off with. They dated some and Misty didn't seem to be treating him the way she'd treated Howie.

Howie, Autumn and Bree were disappointed their older siblings weren't around during the summer, each had things to do elsewhere.

Autumn was thinking about becoming a paramedic or something like it because she'd felt so helpless when Walt Lethbridge was struggling for breath.

Mark and Bree flew to Camden for her private pilot license flight test on her seventeenth birthday. She gave each of her friends a flight in Rocinante the next day.

Bree and her friends towed the Schweizer 1-26 to be at the soaring regional contest at Madison Airpark near Des Moines. Mark couldn't take the time for the contest but did fly in to sign Bree's entry. The contest director was Harry Bankston. Bree was the only one to complete the first day's race. She completed the second day's course and the weather killed the third day's racing.

The weather the next day was good for a distance flight to the east from Madison Airpark. Bree got well ahead of her friends in the car until late in the day. She landed ar Auburn, nearly four hundred miles from her start.
