Summary
Slab was still unconscious when Frank Blixter dropped his possessions off at the hospital before moving on to Prairie du Chien.
Sonny Ochsenlaager joinen MMSA in Prairie du Chien for a week or two and wound up running most of the summer.
The restrictions Blue Laws placed on Sunday activities in Maquoketa, Iowa forced a day off. Local alcohol laws varied between towns, counties nad states. A group of bars one side of a state or county line warned that the other side of the line was dry.
Independence, Missouri saw a crash between Shorty Notwicki in the 2 car and the 72 car. Both drivers had to go to the hospital. Shorty returned with his leg in a cast, the other driver was left in hospital.
The crew repaired the 2 car for the next night but worked on the 72 car in quiet times over the summer.
In Pawhuska, Oklahoma they ran the races on a ball diamond - the first time for Mel Austin. A few days later they ran in a rodeo ring, something only possible with midget cars.
In Floydada, Texas Chick Novesky met Hattie and after a night together agreed to take her with him. Frank OK'd it and they left town before breakfast agreeing to catch up with the crew in Clovis, New Mexico that afternoon.
Mel and Hoss agreed that they needed to work harder at picking up honeys, or ask a cop who was likely to know who'll put out for a price.
