Summary
The return to Livonia marked to start of fall fair season.
A new 53 car had been built by Hoss, Peewee, Chick and Dink in their spare time, and had taken it to a track to test.
Going into fair season they were short two drivers until Skimp Winkelman (who had been laid off) and Buckshot asked if they could drive.
Buckshot told that Hap had been in hospital three weeks and in casts when he got out. Buckshot and Junie had got Hap back home.
Buckshot drove the 27 car and pushed Arlene hard but finished behind her. He wanted to keep that car.
Herb Kralick's shop was used to go over the cars and fit the bigger gas tanks for the fairground tracks.
One afternoon in Ohio with time to spare Mel and Arlene spent a while talking about what they'd do when they quit racing.
