Summary
Jennlynn and Shirley have hosted Jon and Tanisha, and allowed them to roleplay at the Redlite Ranch with Tanisha standing in a lineup and having Jon pick her out. Jennlynn uses Danny to throw a curveball into the game. This is seen from a different point of view in Chapter 7 of the book Square One.
At work the couple have done very well, providing Lambdatron with one of its biggest successes with Project Butterfly.
We learn several things in backstory mode, most of which readers of other Spearfish Lake books already know. We do find out that Jennlynn spent her thirtieth birthday with Will Hoffman on a long horseback ride through the Humboldt National Forest and that Will is now stationed on Okinawa. Also revealed is that Shirley Hoffman is a great-grandmother.
The 317th Fighter Squadron is spending their last weekend before Christmas and deployment overseas with many members partying at the Redlite.
After a particularly busy Friday night, complete with boasting and bets, events conspire the next afternoon to pit Col. Hawkins in his F-117 to mock dogfight Jennlynn in her Learjet. We learn just how poor the stealth fighter is as a fighter plane (it was designed first for stealth and second as a small bomber). It was given a fighter "F" designation only due to Pentagon politics. We also learn just how good the Lear can be (it was a never-built Swiss fighter-bomber design) as she whips his butt!
The duel, the bets and sidebets and the resulting Saturday night turns out to be even more wild, boisterous and legendary, as well as quite profitable for all the girls.
