Summary
Vicky enjoyed telling of her adventure when Jason returned from dropping Duane off. While the weather delayed a return to Malvern Hill for a weekend, eventually Jason and Kevin got out there and enjoyed themselves. Over the next few weeks, Vicky managed to get some combination of Jason, Emily and Kevin to go motorcycle riding with her for a few hours each weekend. In June, the four all made a trip back to Lansing and visit at the Heisler's.
Inspired by the Tyler's hot tub and with her approaching 30th birthday, Vicky gets a thong bikini too skimpy to wear anyplace but her backyard, where she hopes Jason will see it. For her birthday itself, a part of the Class of 1988 and spouses reunites at Hanks' Bar. Vicky finds passage of time somewhat painful.
Vicky trades in her old car, hoping to break some of the memory associations. Dayna and Sandy have also upgraded their transportation, finally replacing their motor home with something bigger. Preparation are made for the upcoming RenFaire that Vicky and Jason will work. This includes building a booth with barked poles instead of finished lumber, chopped from the Austin's hobby farm.
At the Faire, Sandy convinces Jason to raise his prices substantially, and is vindicated when he compares his high quality work to others at the Faire. When Vicky and Dayna browse, Vicky spies Big John, the Malvern Hill trebechet, and drags Dayna over to introduce her to the Woodwards. Dayna is given the chance to pull the trigger and launch a rotten watermelon into the lake. To everyone's shock, a jetskier changes course and the near miss causes him to spill.
