Kevin Holst married Emily Jones, of the Bradford High School's Class of 1988, not long after she graduated. He had gone to Amherst High School, but "Emily’s mother and Kevin’s mother had been friends in high school, and they had stayed friends ever since. Emily had known Kevin virtually all her life."BR3-21 Kevin was four years older than Emily and had already graduated when she went to the Bradford Speedway with him. They have two children, Kayla, the first child of the '88 Class, and Jason, aka JJ.
Kevin worked at Macy Controls while Emily would continue working at the Spee-D-Mart. Their hobbies include riding on Kevin's Harley. Kevin knew allowing Emily to drive his motorcycle could pull her out of a sulk and so working with Jason MacRae he rebuilt a Harley of her own.HS3 To disguise all the time he spent rebuilding the motorcycle, he had Jason teach him to make knives, which he discovered he had a knack for. Jason soon turned his erstwhile apprentice into a real blacksmith, much as his mentor had done for him. This was fortuitous when Macy Controls became a less than reliable employer. Jason and Kevin made plans to turn the hobby into a post-retirement business.HS36
Kevin was a conspirator with Dayna Berkshire in making Vicky Varney's twenty-first birthday memorable.HT17 When Dayna's musical partner Sandy Beach got married, Kevin helped Dayna solo tour, flying to Louisiana at Thanksgiving and driving her RV back to Michigan.HT26
