Summary
Dr. York arrives at Dr. Metarie's practice and is ushered into his office. As soon as he's free (in between patients) they have a quick conversation in which she relates the day's problems.
She asks if a simple lab could be incorporated into his idea for the old hospital building. Gene replies with a definite 'maybe' and says that the idea needs further discussion. Gene introduces her to Heather Compton, the nurse that he plans to loan her, then leaves to see his next patient. Tricia interviews Heather about her nursing background, and more. Tricia pushes a little harder, and Heather reveals that she had a baby at age 14, the father abandoned her, and it was a real struggle to attend college for her LPN and RN. She is married and has had two more children with her husband.
In the rest of the discussion Heather describes the sex education rules in the state, and the sex education talks she gives. At one point Heather invites her to dinner, and she accepts. Tricia ends up thinking that Heather may become more than an employee, she may be a teammate and a friend, with some synergism as well.
The next morning was Saturday. Tricia checked out of the Inn and drove over to her duplex. She found that not only had Danny furnished the house as they had planned, but also there were sheets and blankets on the bed! Plus, Lex had loaned her three paintings! A few minutes later she was on the road to Milwaukee.
During the four hour drive she reflects on her live since she decided to become a doctor... the Redlite, medical school, and more. She reflects on Heather and the life she has had to go through, and the similarities and differences. She reflects on her own social life, or lack of one, and her sex life.
Such thoughts kept rolling around in her head all the way to Milwaukee. She arrived around noon, and spends the rest of the day cleaning out her apartment. Symbolically she throws away all of her remaining Redlite Ranch outfits.
