Summary
Heather has had a fruitless day looking for snakes in the swamps with Pam.
After checking into the computer to get a message from McMullen & Harper to continue the good work, she decides to go to the beach whilst the weather is still good. She meets John there, who isn't that impressed by Pam and Professor Gerjevic.
He introduces her to Josh and Danny as the original identifiers of the snake and then invites her to dinner.
Josh is finding it harder to fit work in around school and football practice.
Chatting to Danny after practice, Danny is running that night with Diane, so Josh heads off to meet up with Bud for a run to Camden. Bud has been thinking about his staffing problem with Ed off sick, and offers to pay Josh through diesel maintainer's school in winter and to work on the trains in the summer instead of going to college.
Josh is going to seriously think about this...
Mike arrives for breakfast at the Spearfish Lake Cafe where they are discussing football. George tells Mike that the Board of the Donna Clark Foundation have decided to fund the printing of Mike's book about the Warsaw fire, and they intend to get it done in time for Christmas. He's pretty happy about the book finally seeing print.
Ryan changes the subject to dogs and asks Mike & Mark how they are going. Ryan is hoping that they will do some sort of demonstration for the Winter Festival, but they don't have enough dogs to race yet. The chapter closes with Mark asking Mike "You want to go looking for dogs on Saturday?"
