Summary
Josh is thinking seriously about whether to go to college or to take Bud up on his offer and be a railroader like his father. He realises that Amy might not last, he feels like an outsider compared to Amy, Marsha & Danny because of the West Turtle Lake Club.
Josh decides that he might like to be a railroader.
Mark and Mike arrive back from the dog pound with 4 dogs to the resignation of Jackie & Kirsten. One is already called Ringo, and with Tiffany's puppy named George, they call the others John, Paul and David.
Mark and Mike are trying out their new dogs after having given them some training with the help of Josh when Jim comes by to see how they are getting on. They give Jim the chance to drive round the field with them, to the old man's immense enjoyment. He tells them to consider Ringo as a command leader.
They also let Josh have a go, and Jackie can see them ending up with three teams.
Josh, Danny & the girls go to the beach for the last time that summer as they are all going back to school. They are talking about going to college in Athens, though Josh is staying quiet about him not going to college. They talk about meeting up next summer.
