Summary

Jake drove into Saugatuck rather late in the morning, with plans on getting in and out rather quickly, but it didn't happen. Between loading boat pieces, the wrong size trailer hitch ball, the wrong trailer hitch wiring, and more, it was close to dark before he left the marina. He found a cheap motel and called it a night.

Jake started back to Winchester the next morning and was there about the time Rachel got home from school. She could see that the boat really was in pieces, and she was ready to start putting it together right then. But working on it was going to have to wait as Nate and Jake had to make room in his boat shed for the Parabellum on it's trailer. When assembly was started several discussions took place regarding modifications and changes.

There was another project that one really ate up the majority of their time - a restoration of a rather beat-up old wooden Chris-Craft runabout from the 1930s. The Ford flathead engine was rebuilt by a friend of Jake's, a guy who ran an auto race track in Bradford. Nate and Jake did everything else on the Chris-Craft. And, by the end of the year the Parabellum’s hull was complete and they were working fitting it out.

Susie and Annette drove home for Thanksgiving. Everyone decided to have Thanksgiving dinner at the Channel Stop where there was more room and a better kitchen to work with. Later on, Jake called his Dad and he agreed that under the Lisa circumstances it was probably a good idea to give coming home for Christmas a pass this year. Barb and Marge decided to do the same Channel Stop dinner thing again for Christmas dinner. One evening Jake was surprised to have all three girls in bed with him at once. It was one really memorable Christmas present.
