Summary
Adam spent a day helping Audrey pack up her apartment and load her car. He was a bit down as he watched her drive off towards Toronto, thinking it unlikely that he'd have her company again.
He made the trip back to Sims Boat Yard outside Jacksonville as quickly as he could. He was looking forward to moving onto the Moonshadow and got nearer to deciding he'd be sailing to Blanche Tickle.
At the boat yard he found Jake working on the Rag Doll with Amanda. He talked about his trip, being careful not to mention Audrey, and the ideas it gave him for changes to the Moonshadow. Adam stayed around a few days to help with the Rag Doll, including three days cleaning the growth from her hull once she'd been lifted onto the hard. Jake and Amanda helped Adam get Knick-Knack onto the trailer and packed for travel.
Again, Adam found the pickup under-powered for towing the Knick-Knack so took it slowly. Jake and Amanda passed him a day before he got home even though they'd spent another couple of days in Jacksonville. Adam left the Knick-Knack on her trailer at Frenchtown Harbor for a few days before taking her up to Winchester Harbor to store and for Jake to possibly sell for him.
At Winchester Harbor Adam worked on the Moonshadow as well as helping Jake and Amanda get the fishing boats ready for the season. With Jake's help and advice he ordered the parts he needed for he changes he wanted to make, and installed them when they arrived: a Bimini top for shade which could also be rigged as a dodger, solar cells to charge the batteries he'd need for the refrigeration and electronics. Once the boats were back in the water Adam moved onto Moonshadow and took her out onto the lake when the weather was right and he didn't have anything else to do.
Amanda had got her licence to captain the fishing boats while she'd been in Florida and Adam went along to helm for her on her first time in charge.
When Adam was ready to take Moonshadow to Frenchtown Harbor, Jake advised him not to try staying on the lake overnight. Amanda suggested he might meet her on Rag Doll next winter, and he hoped he'd have some more stories to tell.
