January 8th 10:07 AM to 1:38 PM.
Don & Fred try to move the hopper wagons with the bulldozer, but fail. Bud and John are using the larger of the C&SL's two snowplows to clear the tracks up to Warsaw when Betty contacts them on the VHF radio to help the fire department in Warsaw move some hopper wagons. As Bud speeds up, Fred Linder contacts them swap information. Bud contacts Betty to get Walt Archer out to warm up the other engine. John and Bud finally make it to the Hopper wagons, and realise how bad the situation is, they try to pull the wagons using the snow plow as a heat shield, to no avail. Fred Linder has to start evacuating Warsaw. Fred Linder says he's waiting for support from Spearfish Lake and Walsenberg, and Bud has the idea of transporting the fire departments on the flatcars that are at Spearfish Lake. Fred Rumsey is worried, especially over his pregnant wife Marie, but he's part of the fire department and too busy to be with her. Bruce Marshall has his employees removing toxic chemicals from the plant and standing fire watch on unaffected buildings. Bud talks briefly to the Sheriff in Spearfish Lake, then to Betty and Walt Archer to get the flatcars unloaded. Joe McGuinness is boring Rod Turpin in the Spearfish Lake's Fire Department Truck as they crawl along behind the county snowplows when they are told to return to Spearfish Lake to go on the train. Walt and Frank Matson start moving the flatcars to be unloaded. Bud and John are having trouble with one of their engines, which isn't putting out as much power as it should be.
