Summary

Officially John Hufnagel was living with his parents, but almost every night was spent with Debby. Susie was going to Chicago in a couple of weeks, and she spent almost every night with Jake and gave him some interesting insights into Annette. One morning she came to breakfast in the snack bar, there were some hugs and kisses all around, and then she was gone.

As the season advanced the Channel Stop was getting busier. As expected, day by day they received more boat traffic and the weekends were especially busy. Debby and Laura took care of the kitchen. Wayne had returned from school at the same time as Susie and Annette and spent time at the fuel dock. This was helpful as Jake was out with Nate in the Chinook III on weekdays and Rachel, who was still in school, went out on weekends. Before long the fuel dock was pretty much Wayne's, and Jake helped out on weekends when it got busy.

Memorial day weekend - the last monday in May - brought a lot of boats migrating north that stopped off for fuel or to stay the night. During the day it was one boat after another, the only real difference in them being how long it took to fill the fuel tanks. Late one day a large power cruiser came in – a party boat - with both Lisa and Brittany as passengers. Jake dodged any chatting by fueling the boat. A few hours later Jake walked over to the slips, found the boat, picked up Lisa and Brittany, and ended up at Dot’s Bar. Conversation ensued, with both Jake and Brittany agreeing that Lisa was sticking her nose where it didn’t belong. Later in the conversation Brittany confessed to the cheating, and Lisa was forced to admit that she had been wrong all along. But Lisa kept pushing and pushing Brittany and Jake together until Jake finally had enough, and told her that Brittany and he needed to talk - alone.

Also Mentioned
