Summary

Over the next few weeks Randy spends half days at Clark Construction, and the other half at Clark Plywood. On the Clark Construction side there were multiple bids to prepare. Plus, Carlos made his recommendation to purchase a new grader, but to wait until fall, and then purchase one that is lightly-used. On the Clark Plywood side he researched the pellet mill issues and recommended that they build in Spearfish Lake. Ryan then asked How soon can you break ground? Randy replied in May, depending on the weather.

That evening Randy and Nicole discussed the day, with him telling her that it would be the biggest project we’ve done for the plant for a while, and would fill up the summer. Nicole pointed out that there would be no major summer trips, but maybe a small trip, and the baby's due date would come into play as well. She again brings up Randy's lack of time management skills.

Nicole changes the subject to discuss the lakefront and the sailboat - and that they should talk to Nellie. A few nights later Nellie joined Randy and Nicole for dinner. Afterwards they discussed sailboats, and how to decide what not to buy. Randy is firm on the wood versus fiberglass topic: I don’t enjoy spending time with a paintbrush in my hand, period. That’s what I hire painters for. And there is a time factor, and how the newborn baby is going to affect the available time. And they might decide that they don't like sailing. Nellie suggests that There’s no reason you can’t buy an older boat cheaply and sail it for a summer or two to find out. The right older boat is around, but you just have to find it.

Nicole had the last word... However, there’s also going to be a baby coming in a month and a little, so we’re probably going to have to put off serious looking until after that.
