Summary

Sonja waits with her Maid of Honor, Mary Lou, in the basement for the wedding to start. Mary Lou supplies plenty of support, not just against wedding jitters but the likely confrontation with Zivah.

Barb has loaned her wedding dress for the occasion. Chuck is a florist and has little trouble supplying flowers. Chuck also has a couple of friends sitting in the audience, two uniformed police officers.

Sonja's grandfather James was a retired Methodist pastor and led the service, skipping any request for objections and soon it is done. Vicky and Shelly are among those giving Sonja congratulations.

While Zivah is unhappy, Sonja finds she can handle the confrontation after all. She even hints "we sort of had to, you know" without explicitly saying it was because of her mother, not a pregnancy.

Soon Scott and Sonja are ready to leave for their honeymoon.

In an Epilogue, Scott and Sonja are watching the television in their apartment as Patriot missiles knock down Scuds over Tel Aviv. They are relieved that Sonja is not there while worrying about Zivah. Sonja concludes "that’s where she wants to be, and that’s where she’s supposed to be, but that doesn’t keep me from being worried as hell about her."
