Summary
Adam phoned Sinead in the post office at Blanche Tickle asking her to get Mary to call him back. When he spoke to Mary he suggested a meeting with Brittany before he left on Moonshadow and they agreed he'd arrange flights for them all to meet at teh airport in Halifax, Nova Scotia. He set the flights up so that Mary and Matty would arrive first and leave last so Brittany wouldn't get any clue where they lived.
Brittany was nervous about the meeting when she and Adam flew out of Detroit. She was on her best behaviour and apologized to Mary for her previous treatment of Mary. After two and a half hours of conversation was more pleaant than Adam had expected he and Brittany had to get their flight back to Detroit. Adam encouraged Brittany that she might be able to see Matty sometime and that he'd given Mary Brittany's phone number.
Mary phoned Adam once she was back in Blanche Tickle and they both said how much better the meeting had been than they'd expected. Mary thought she and Brittany might be able to be friends and that she wanted Matty to have a chance to know his grandmother. She wondered about inviting Brittany to Blanche Tickle and Adam said it would have to be her decision.
Friday Adam made a quick call at Caldwell-Deerfield, bought groceries and stored them on Moonshadow and sold his car - the dealer gave him a lift to the marina where he went to the nearby restaurant for a meal he didn't have to cook and a couple of beers.
Saturday morning he slept later than he intended and took his time getting round so he was only just taking the main sail cover off when he heard a woman’s voice call out. “Adam, thank God you’re still here. Will you still take me with you?” He was very pleasantly surprised to see Audrey standing there and welcomed her to join him.
