Summary
Jake sails round Florida, taking his time to see what there is to see.
Near Cape Sable he decided to make the 40 mile open water crossing to Marathon in the Keys and was satisfied with the success of it.
He found the climate in the Keys was what he was looking for - warm enough not to ned his pea jacket in the evenings.
When the shallow draught of Pixie misled another boat which ran aground he met Bob, Sharon and Melissa from near Atlanta. Melissa was the odd one out on their boat and joined Jake for the rest of her week's vacation and they sailed in company with Bob and Sharon.
When Jake called home and then the Channel Stop at Christmas Rachel complained that he hadn't called a couple of weeks earlier so she could fly down to join him for a couple of weeks.
Heading north during January Jake didn't much like the Miami area or the Gold COast north of there.
When he found there was a rocket launch from Cape Kennedy scheduled in a few days he decided to hang around to watch it. He picked up Danielle, a girl who was backpacking round Florida for the winter. She wanted to visit Playalinda Beach - a nude beach - and Jake agreed to take her for a few days. not someone he would have wanted to spend a lot of time with but a pleasant distraction for a few days.
