Summary
Life at college goes well for the two. When Rhonda Sue discovers her roommate Linda is a lesbian, she breaks down. Eve discovers she has the patience and understanding to talk to Rhonda Sue and calm her down. Shae wonders if maybe business isn't the right major for Eve. With the crisis passed, Shae and Eve compare the difficulties for transgendered and the need to keep the secret from Shae's parents.
Despite being freshman, Shae and Tawana form the core of the ladies basketball team and make it to the NCAA tournament and into the Sweet Sixteen round for the national championship, but attendance leaves Shae worried about her goal of playing for the WNBA.
March 21 marks two years from Denis deciding to be called "Eve" and the pair celebrate at dinner. They also use the occasion to celebrate Shae's basketball success and that Mike Kirkendahl had finally received his promotion, to the Adairsville Plant. The move makes a surprise visit much less likely and keeping Eve's secret that much easier. The final reason to celebrate was learning the date of Eve's sex reassignment surgery, June 5th.
After returning to their dorm, Shae offers to let Eve test her male equipment before it disappears. As Eve anticipates, however, between the estrogen therapy and her orientation, no erection occurs.
