Summary
Cody and Janice included swims in Lake Michigan and Lake Huron round their visit to Mackinaw City. They got to Lansing the day before the meet and Cody had time for practice after registering. Camping with other competitors gave them some companionship. He was happy with his shooting in the first big meet he'd attended, especially so with first place in the heavy pistol category, though he recognised that a national meet had drawn some of the better competititors away.
The evening before meeting Shay included a swim in Lake Erie. Shay was happy to see them and even spend his day off at Cedar Point as a tourist. He told them he'd broken up with Bethany but asked them to let him tell his parents when he got home in a couple of weeks.
After looking round the Southern Michigan University campus they called in to see what they'd need to get admitted. The Admissions Officer, George Wilt, offered them provisional letters of acceptance after he learned that Cody had out shot him at the meet in Lansing.
