Summary

Mary talked about the artist colony which she was helping Andrew, "the Yank artist fella", to develop. He had previously rented her house for a few summers. When he wanted to again Mary realised there were empty houses in the settlement she could buy to rent out to him, so she used some of the money Matt had left her. She was also able to earn a little money with the Mary Sue from the artists, which justified her decision to keep the boat.

While Mary and Adam were talking Evan showed up to check Mary was alright, having seen the strange car.

Adam recognized that Blanche Tickle was a good community for Mary and Matty, though he would want Matty to know his horizons were a lot wider as he grew.
