Summary
Nanci waited in for Amber to return home after school. Nanci told Amber she could stay there for a while if her mother didn't show up.
Ed Burton phoned to ask Nanci to take the funeral for Elmer Pepper on Thursday as Reverend Saunders at Lexington had refused.
Nanci tells Amber she'll give her a key as she's unlikely to be home after the funeral before Amber gets home. Amber is surprised to be trusted that much so soon.
Gerald Pepper was upset by Reverend Saunders refusal to take the funeral, even though he hadn't spoken to him directly. Driving back from Carondelet he realises neighbors are important in the rural community and that church would be a good place to meet them.
When Keith Westbrook got home from school he had to help his father mend a fence. Trent asked whether he'd seen Amber at school and warned Keith away from having anything to do with her.
