Summary
Nanci started her day early with a prayer time. She was surprised to find Amber in the kitchen when she went to get a cup of coffee after her prayer time. She was surprised again when Amber asked to join her in exercises.
Amber made breakfast, impressing Nanci with her determination to pull her weight and the quality of the cooking. Nanci suggested goin into Carondelet after school to buy some clothes.
When Amber went to school Nanci went to the Prairie Dawn and again met Bernice Reed and Ethel Hawley. Nanci passed on details of Elmer Pepper's funeral. Ethel warned Nanci to be careful about Amber and Bernice warned that getting too invloved with Amber might ruin the resepct she'd been earning in the churches.
