Summary
Jake shares his story with Debby. After four years in the Navy being faithful to Brittany, his return home isn't the event he was hoping for. Her responses don't meet his unvoiced expectations, his actions don't meet hers.
An unexpectedly cancelled trip to his Grandfather in Kentucky gives him the opportunity for a surprise visit to her campus. He arrives at her dorm just in time to see her get into a car with another man. They spend the night at a motel.
Jake is devastated, drives home, drinks, argues with his family who are unaware of the infidelity and unwilling to believe it.
He packs a bag and a suitcase, leaves home, wanders around for a while and lands at the Channel Stop.
At the end of his story he finds consolation in Debby's arms.
