Summary
Gil and Carrie effectively had a three-year honeymoon in Germany until he was sent to Vietnam. They were able to move the family back to Spearfish Lake before he went. Carrie took the job as winter watchman at West Turtle Lake Club living in one of the rental cabins.
Carrie was very lonely that winter at the empty Club. After mentioning her loneliness and thoughts about Donna to Frank Matson she was surprised that Donna visited her one day. They each had a little more respect for the other by the end of that day.
Gil returned in July 1965 to be stationed at Ft. Bragg, North Carolina.
