Summary
Crystal led the late September trip - Michelle was on the trip (which she thought was going to be her last of the season) and Al was back in the office. Scooter was looking forward to their sailing vacation in the upcoming winter. It was an uneventful but good trip with congenial customers; Michelle got into some of her rowdier music towards the end of the trip.
Scooter led the last trip of the year; Al and Karin were back with them. The trip started out cold and windy. On the day that Karin's divorce became final. Scooter stopped for the night near the Baseball Man spot; Crystal, Al, and Karin spent most of the afternoon there. For some reason, after that, the weather became milder, and there were some glorious fall afternoons.
Dave and Mary had started a trip the week before Scooter's trip got off the river; they had Jim as a swamper until he had to hike out at Phantom Ranch. Both Duane and Mike offered to hike down to finish the trip, but Michelle pulled seniority and went back on the river for what really was her last trip of the year.
Al wants to get Crystal and Scooter on the Park Service interpretive trip next spring. They decide that the schedule will be tight but will work out for them. After Thanksgiving (again at Jon and Tanisha's in Tempe) they plan to get away for some time on the slopes, and plan to go surfing in January with Myleigh, Karin and Al before their sailing trip.
