Summary
After the next trip, during which Scooter and Crystal tried to learn as much as possible from Norma, who is is a full-blooded Navajo with a great knowledge of the flora & fauna of the canyon as well as an uncanny weather sense, Jeff tells them that Michelle has faked a shoulder injury so that Al will be forced to go as a boatman on the next trip.
The students that have worked the summer are all leaving for college, but will be back for the next season.
Michelle shows them the list for the next trip. Crystal sees the name Randy Clark, but cannot believe that it is the Randy she knows (this same scene is in Chapter 65 of Dawnwalker , but from a different point of view).
Crystal, Scooter and Michelle discuss their off-season (winter) plans, possibly renting a sailboat in the Bahamas. Michelle volunteers to investigate the possibilities. Scooter closes the discussion with the admonition "Don't make any commitments. . . and remember that when they say a boat sleeps four, that means four midgets who are into group sex."
