Summary
Frank Blixter invited Mel to drive a midget racecar for him that evening at Oconomowoc fairgrounds.
When Mel got there he was surprised to see Spud McElroy there as well. Mel was assigned the 66 car and got some practice alone then with Spud on the track. Mel qualified from his heat into the main feature where he came in third.
Mel learned that Frank and Spud ran the Midwest Midget Sportsman Association.
