John Archer is the son of Walt and Sarah Archer. He has an elder half sister, Jackie and a younger full brother Josh. He is married to Candice (Candy) Howard, and they have two sons: Shay and Cody.
John and Candice met at State and before long were married and living in Camden.FtS2 He is an accountant and first worked for Timms, Sheridan in Camden for 6 years. Around 1995 he found a better job with Rotunda Systems in Decatur. By 1999 Rotunda was in trouble and he started looking elsewhere. Neither he nor Candice were happy in Decatur, especially with the schooling for their boys, when their Christmas visit to his parents in Spearfish Lake put him in contact with Joe McGuinness. By June 2010 he was on the School Board, leading a boycott of a number of board meetings so that Superintendent Charles DeRidder's contract could not be renewed.BOF1 He was subsequently elected to be president of the school board.BOF2
