Summary
Henry got up early to drive to Decatur. Tricia was unable to get back to sleep and went to the Spearfish Lake Cafe for breakfast. Patients kept her busy but didn't stop her worry about Henry. Lunchtime she had to return camping gear to Spearfish Lake Outfitters and stopped at the Frostee Freeze for a burger.
After work Tricia decided to sit on the beach to wait for Henry to call. He hadn't been able to see Cindy because she was heavily sedated, and the hospital wouldn't tell him anything. He told her what he'd learned from a contact in the police; that Cindy had taken a large dose of pills, gone to a restaurant and collapsed there. tricia said it sounded like a grandstand play to get his attention. She suggested he let her doctor know about Cindy's past planning and actions. He would also write Cindy a letter that her plan didn't work and wouldn't work in future.
Henry and Tricia were both glad when he got back to Spearfish Lake. He talked about how Cindy's act had enabled him to put her behind him. He asked Tricia to marry him. She told him she'd like to be married to him but had something to show him before giving an answer so he could retract the question if he needed to.
