Henry Langenderfer-McMahon is the middle child and only son of Mike McMahon and Kirsten Langenderfer. He has an older sister, Tiffany and a younger one, Susan. Henry was born around 1981 and named after his mother's first boyfriend, Henry Toivo. In May 1991, he served as his father's best man at his parent's wedding.

By 1997, Henry is a student at the High School, but helps out at the Spearfish Lake Record-Herald weekly newspaper, where both his parent's work. He has been known to take a camera to cover stories such as house fires since fifth grade and he has made comments in the Reporter's Handbook.

Henry grudgingly serves as a source for Brenda Hodunk when she tries to uncover information on the suspension of Jason Bailey. Cindy deLine is known to spend a lot of time with Henry McMahon, who is said to "be sweet on her".

By 2004, Henry has graduated from Central Michigan University.SU7 He and Cindy live together while he works at a TV Station in Springfield, "doing penny-ante stuff like 'Restaurant Report Card'. It’s just space filler at best and management treats it like it’s a big deal."SU3 While he enjoys journalism, he specialized in the electronic side, partially to avoid being stuck at his parent's newspaper.

In 2007, Henry is working for a TV station in Decatur, about 400 miles from Spearfish Lake, and living with Cindy deLine.SL1

Around 2009, while working part-time on his master's degree, he got a job in a Decatur newspaper. He liked it better than TV, but after two months the paper was sold and the new owners downsized the staff.

Henry lost his job and moved, sans Cindy, back to Spearfish Lake, landing in one half of a rental duplex owned by Binky Augsberg and Northwoods Realty. At the time, the other half of the duplex was rented by Dr. Tricia York, the new doctor in town.HP16

The story of how they met is documented in the book Hiding Patty. Henry and Tricia York were married on Labor Day, 2010.HP33
