Cynthia deLine, better known as Cindy. She is the only daughter of Gordon and Lisa deLine and was born in 1981. By September 1997, she is a pupil at the high school and was present when Jason Bailey was attacked by three bullying football players and defended himself with a knife. Although staying off record, she is the one that gives Brenda Hodunk the information the reporter needs to crack the story in the book Andromeda Chained .

Cindy appears embarrassed by her mother's outspokenness and activism on her behalf. She is known to spend a lot of time with Henry McMahon, who is said to "be sweet on her". She is a brunette and has been spotted jogging.

After Cindy graduated from High School (Spring 2000), she wanted to move far away from her mother. She first enrolled in the University of Alaska at Fairbanks, and after Lisa bought a house and moved to Fairbanks, Cindy transferred to the University of Miami.BB36 Or at least that's what everyone thought, in fact she went to Del Mar College in Corpus Christi, Texas. Her mother did eventually track Cindy down and moved to Corpus Christi. Cindy then transferred to Central Michigan University and moved in with Henry McMahon.HP21

In 2004 she graduated from Central Michigan University,SU21 and was back, with Henry, in Spearfish Lake, waiting for an opportunity to leave for more exciting places. Susan Langenderfer-McMahon thought that in spite of a college degree, Cindy wasn’t an intellectual giant. Cindy had been a better than average student at Spearfish Lake High School, though not by much, and she probably hadn’t read many books that hadn’t been assigned.SU2

By 2007 Cindy is in Decatur, about 400 miles from Spearfish Lake, and living with Henry Langenderfer-McMahon, who is working for a TV station there.SL1

Henry describes Cindy's high school problems and their true relationship across several chapters in the book Hiding Patty.HP20 HP21

In spring 2010 Cindy apparently attempted suicide.HP30 When Henry McMahon told Tricia York as much detail as he'd learned she thought Cindy had made a grandstand play to get his attention. Realising the likely truth of that, Henry was able to distance himself from Cindy so she couldn't get her hooks into him again.HP31
