Summary
Jon & Tanisha are surprised by a no-notice drop-in visit from Crystal. Jon & Crystal talk about what's happened, and Jon agrees to pass a message on to Karin for Crystal (compare this scene with Chapter 3 of Alone Together).
Randy drives Crystal up to meet Scooter at the Nantahala Outdoor Center, then takes both of them to Amicola Falls State Park where a trail led up to the start of the Appalachian Trail proper, eight miles away. During the drive to meet Scooter he and Crystal have a conversation, during which he suggests that she use the trail name Diamond.
