Summary
Mike has taken advantage of the time zones between Michigan and California and called Andy at work.
Andy confirms Mike's suspicion that the Defenders of Gaea are a scam, but states that the Los Angeles Times doesn't have anywhere near enough proof to write an article. What is needed is an insider to blow the whistle, but he will send Mike a copy of what little information that they do have.
Mike and Andy chat for a few minutes, end the phone call, then Mike leaves the office for home.
Heather spends an enjoyable Christmas with John, and is in a happy mood until she gets back to her flat and reads the Record-Herald newspaper article that virtually calls the Defenders of Gaea a scam.
Heather sees red and storms into Mike's office, denying everything. While she is there Mike gets a call from Jennifer, telling him that McMullen has asked Blake for another $50,000. Mike asks Jennifer to keep quiet for a little while to give him time to see what they can do to hurt the Defenders.
He tells Heather that he's just talked to the donor, who won't be giving the $50,000 sending Heather off again as she has been told $25,000. Heather is even more determined to prove it is all lies.
Heather gets back to her apartment full of fire determined to prove Mike wrong.
With John's help she starts to download everything from the mainframe and go through the files. Nothing quite seems to add up, so with John's support (such as going out to purchase a hundred floppy disks) she keeps downloading and looking.
