Summary
The two funerals were still a sore point within Bradford, as Bert had to watch Steve's funeral cortege pass, with him forced to sit and watch all those who had chosen the Sharp funeral over the Mansfield one.
Subsequently the Mansfield farm is repeatedly raided by the immigration service, each time arresting and deporting many of his workers. This delays his crops, forces him to find new workers and pay higher wages for legal labor.
Then there is an accidental discharge of half a million gallons of liquid manure into the local river, which flowed across state lines... and that made it a federal violation. Sharp contacted Defenders of Gaea, who made a big and expensive Federal legal case out of it.
Eventually Mansfield loses his farm, and is forced to work as a manager for someone else. In the next election he also loses his seat on the school board to the Rev Swift.
Shae keeps secret that she and Denis go to Steve Sharp's grave, for Denis to make a promise to Steve. Then Shae and Denis literally piss on the graves of Brock and Brett.
