Summary
Cody was waiting for Janice off school premises at the end of the day. They talked about what was happening.
Next morning Matt Schindenwulfe followed Cody into school. When Bryson Payne told Cody he was on permanent detention, Matt Schindenwulfe told him not to go and handed Bryson Payne a copy of the suit he'd be filing at court that morning. Cody told Payne “You were the one who wanted the duel. That means I get to choose the weapons. Just to prove to you that I’m not a stone killer, I chose lawyers.”
Matt Schindenwulfe suggested they get the school system to pay for alternative education for the whole school year, and an alternative which might give Cody and Janice high school diplomas early with a head start on college for next fall.
