Roger Griswold and his wife Kathy are farmers, five miles east of Arvada Center. They have kids, at least one being a son, Dave. Roger served in the Air Force sometime before his marriage.Roc3-6

Roger married Kathy in 1971 when they found she was pregnant, which isn't supposed to happen to Methodist girls. They did some traveling for their honeymoon, which is how they met Mark Gravengood and Jackie Archer at Titusville Beach when they are waiting for the Apollo launch. They discover that they are almost neighbors, thanks to their car's license plate. Their friendship was reinforced when Rocinante stopped by a few months later at the Griswold's 800 acre farm of grain and dairy cattle he ran with his dad, George.

In the early 1980s, after a barn fire on the Griswold farm, an event detailed in The Next Generation, Roger takes some expensive machinery off the Sorensen's hands and selling a much cheaper, and smaller, old machine. Roger was also a major organizer in getting other farmers to help the Sorensens out.

The most recent mention of the Griswold's came in 2000, Facing the Storm, when Bob Watson detailed how the Griswold's shifted into a dedicated milking operation with "Four huge barns, a sixty-stall milking parlor, and ... thirty-six hundred cows." With 32 full-time employees, they are the biggest employer in Arvada Center.
