Summary
We learn of a few brief stops the couple has made after leaving the west coast and working their way east. Jackie has been signed off on her private pilot's license and after another week at Waverly both have their glider licenses.
They stop in to visit with the Griswolds before heading to Stellafane. Kathy is babysitting a small child (Judith who features more prominently in another book: she recalls the episode laterRM9). Other farm workers include boys named Merle and Tom. We hear about how Jackie and Mark helped in a cattle roundup.
Mark and Jackie tell the Griswolds of receiving a commendation from the Coast Guard, and a thank-you letter from the Pittingers, the couple whose overturned boat Jackie spotted from Rocinante.ROC22
After helping with farm chores, Jackie and Mark conclude they're happy not to be farming, but they're happy to visit, including another church visit.
